Jesus grew in wisdom and in status, gaining favour with God and man.
Growth is not natural but intentional.
Involvement in spiritual activities doesn’t necessary make you grow.
… since you have become dull of hearing.
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child.
But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
We must be obsessed with desire to grow
We must be committed to grow
We must make practical steps and effort to grow
We must see result of our growth
Growth is intentional
The ability to apply knowledge
In life, we make decisions, when we are younger our decision are less impactful and important. As we grow older, our decision will get more and more major and important. It will affect others around us and our future.
We need God’s knowledge, and we need God’s wisdom and discernment in life journey.
So in order to have wisdom, we need to have knowledge of God.
That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.
While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them.
And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”
And their eyes were opened, and they recognised him. And he vanished from their sight.
We need wisdom and revelation of God
We need to grow in wisdom to come to maturity in Christ.
Be ye not wise in the things of the world…be wise in the things of God’s Kingdom, in God’s truth, in God’s word and ways.
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognised that they had been with Jesus.
Daniel 1:17 & 20
Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
And in every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his realm.
I believe it meant more than physical status…is growing in the inner man, the spirit man.
1 Corinthians 2…talking about God’s Spirit teaching us…empowering our spirit.
Romans 8 talks about living in the Spirit, by the Spirit and growing in the spirit…
Our spirit that connects with God’s Spirit.
Men were created in the image of God…we have a spirit that can connect with God’s Spirit. Animal doesn’t have a spirit. Only human spirit can inherit salvation and the Kingdom of God.
Romans 8 talks about…
Law of the Spirit (v2)
Living according to the Spirit (v5)
Led by the Spirit (v14)
Receiving the Spirit (v15)
Firstfruits of the Spirit (v23)
Helps in the Spirit (v26)
Praying in the Spirit (V26)
Mind of the Spirit (v27)
Witness in the Holy Spirit (Rm 9:1)
FAVOUR WITH GOD
The face of God shines upon you…
But Noah found favour in the eyes of Jehovah. These are the generations of Noah.
Noah was a righteous man, and perfect in his generations: Noah walked with God.
Favour of God can increase and grow when we walk in obedience to God. Like Noah walk with God, walk in righteousness and was perfect…no blemish in his life.
Favour of God is represented by…
God’s presence in our life
God’s blessings all that we have and do
God’s power release in our life
God granting the desires of our heart
FAVOUR WITH MEN
I will bless you, you shall be a blessings…many will call you blessed.
We call this Divine Favour
When a man’s ways please Jehovah, He make even his enemies to be at peace with him.
1 Samuel 13:14
The LORD has sought out a man after His own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be prince over His people…
Promotion comes from the Lord.
